Welcome

If you are here, it is probably because you walked past my poster in St Paul’s Plaza, Perth, and kindly clicked my QR code, so thank you!

Introduction

I am Phineas Manasseh, an applied artist based at the Wasps Creative Exchange in Perth, and what you saw are drawings for
squirrel_series furniture.

My philosophy

I believe the everyday things we live with should feel good but not cost a fortune. Therefore, my design focuses on creating beautiful, simple furniture and fittings using inexpensive and reused materials: and I want to help you
make some of them.

squirrel_001 and squirrel_002 belong to a series of multi-use furniture designed for small rooms or homes. These squirrels move around your activities and whenever there’s a need to stash, put something down, or find an extra seat.

Have a go at making your own squirrel stool with my Free Design Drawings

Those with a bit of knowhow, or enthusiasm, can get to work right away! All the pieces of wood needed are standard and easy to find in a DIY store. Pick your FREE construction drawing:

Learn

The squirrel series is designed to help people make for themselves.

Look out for my workshops happening in Perth over the summer. I am offering one-day workshops to adults (over 16 years) who wish to learn the basic skills needed to make the squirrel_001 or squirrel_002.

This workshop provides all tools and materials, allowing you to go home with your first handmade piece of furniture.

Catalogue

I also have furniture and fittings which I make by hand to order. Though simple and elegant, these designs require much more skill and precision. Their charm lies in the apparent contradiction between the simplicity of my designs and the precision needed to make each piece well.
